Services for Single Adults
Single adult men and women in the West who are homeless or at risk of homelessness use a number of Wombat programs. Wombat provides some case management support to single adults who reside in Rooming Houses that are managed by Women’s Housing Ltd. Referrals to the male rooming houses can by made via Wombat worker and referral to the female houses are made via Women’s Housing Ltd.
Wombat also supports single adults in transitional housing.
Single Adults Support Program
Who the Single Adults Support Program is for:
• Single adults
• Homeless or at risk of becoming homeless
What is provided:
• Support and assistance to:
» Develop skills for independent living
» Sort out concerns/problems that are causing homelessness
» Find secure housing
What is the purpose:
• To establish people in secure housing with links to ongoing support agencies
Who is eligible:
• Single people
• Over 25 years
• Homeless or at risk of homelessness
• Willing to participate in the support program
• Needing the support of the program
• In receipt of an independent income
• Able to manage daily living arrangements
• Links to the West
What it involves:
• Making a plan with the support worker to resolve obstacles to secure housing
• Weekly meetings with the support worker
• Regular phone contact with the support worker
• A commitment to participation in the program
• Involvement with other support services as needed
How to get into the program:
• Contact the Access Point – Yarra Housing
• Complete a form with the worker/s to determine eligibility
• Assessment in person with the support worker/s
• Eligible people are matched to the vacancy
• Sign a support agreement
