Assistance to Early Applicants

What We Do
We assist new Segment Three (and transfer) applicants who require additional assistanceto establish their eligibility

If the person is homeless or is being supported by another program area in the Homelessness Service System they will not be eligible for SHASP

Who is Eligible
People who are
– early housing eligible
– not eligible for THM and SAAP services because they are not homeless
– unsupported by an existing program (or there has been a breakdown in support)
– not skilled enough to gather documentation to meet Segment 3 criteria

Referral Source
OoH, other community agencies and self referrals

Roles
OoH
HAAT will assess Segment 3 (new and transfer) applicants and refer those who meet the criteria to SHASP Provider

SHASP Provider
SHASP Provider will assist and support the referred client to meet the Segment 3 requirements

The SHASP Provider will also provide secondary consultation to OoH and other community agencies

Other Community Agencies
Agencies in the Homelessness Service System will provide assistance to their clients and refer eligible casual clients to SHASP

Agencies which are not part of the Homelessness Service System will refer people who meet the eligibility criteria to SHASP
