Services for Young People

Gilbert Road Program:

This program is designed to improve the opportunities and outcomes for young people aged from 17 exiting DHS statutory care who have minimal support networks. This is achieved through the provision of intensive support, safe and affordable housing and an emphasis on accessing and maintaining employment, education and training. The program aims to develop a range of resources, networks and relationships as appropriate to ensure positive outcomes for the young people. The program and housing is for a period of two years.

The young person is required to pay rent 25% of income (if under 18 year of age $15 per week) as well as utilities

Referrals to all programs are via the relative DHS Department (youth justice or leaving care).
