Community Facility Management
“Wombat manages approximately 30 Office of Housing (Department of Human Services) owned community facilities primarily used by public tenants and/or for activities of benefit to public tenant communities in the West and North regions of metropolitan Melbourne. Wombat utilises an “Off-Site Management Model” for the management of the community facilities from our office in North Melbourne .
Wombat's role in the management of community facilities is to:
(1) Implement and maintain guidelines and systems for bookings;
(2) Develop and maintain processes and systems that ensure facilities are maintained at an appropriate standard; and,
(3) Work with local tenants providing them with an opportunity to ascertain community requirements and a role in planning and management of the facility.
There are two main facility types: General Use Facilities and Elderly Persons' Estate Facilities:
(1) General Use Facilities: are primarily for use by public tenants and/or agencies that provide activities and programs that benefit public tenants.
(2) Elderly Persons' Estate Facilities: are for the sole use of local elderly public housing tenants and/or DHS funded agencies providing support to elderly public tenants through program delivery. Elderly person estate facilities are not available for general use by other non-public tenant residents or non-DHS funded agencies providing elderly person support programs.
