Family Support Program
Who the Family Support Program is for:
• Families who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
What is provided:
• Support and assistance to:
» Develop
skills for independent living
» Address
concerns/problems that are causing homelessness
» Find
housing

Housing
» For
up to 12 months
» Properties
are provided with household goods & bedding
» Rent
is set at 25% of income
What is the purpose:
• To establish families in secure housing with links
to ongoing support agencies
Who is eligible:
• Families
• Over 21 years
• Homeless or at risk of homelessness
• Willing to participate in the support program
• Needing the support of the program
• In receipt of an independent income
• Able to manage daily living arrangements
• Links to the West
•
Families eligible for “recurring homelessness” priority
housing with the Office of Housing will be given
priority
What it involves:
• Making a plan with the support worker to resolve
problems
• Weekly meetings with the support worker/s
• Regular phone contact with the support worker/s
• A commitment to participation in the program
• Involvement with other support services as needed
How to get into the program:
• Contact the program workers
• Complete a referral form to determine
eligibility
• Assessment in person with the support worker/s
• Eligible people are matched to the vacancy
• Sign a support agreement
• Begin the program and move into the property
